Northern Progress

We all have a story to tell. We tell our stories in various ways; we write, draw, sing and talk. This page is part of my story, welcome to it.

Along this road that many walk I hope you will be encouraged in your own story and begin to share it so that others may journey with you. Who knows, maybe we'll create a fellowship that will rival J.R.R. Tolkien.

Are we encouraging question asking?

Ever have one of those experiences where either you or someone you've chatted with has some deep questions of faith? You know the kind that sends shivers down your spine where not matter what you say God needs to reveal himself in order for truth to come through?

Well i had one of those today and it reminded me of all the questions I've dealt with in my life. I ask myself "what would it have been like if i verbalized my question everyone what threatened by it?"

I wonder what causes us to discourage people, ourselves included, from asking those incredibly tough questions? Is it that God isn't big enough to handle them? or are we too insecure to allow for them?

When is that last time you asked yourself, "How do I know there is a God?", "Why is Christ the only way?", or "How is God relevant in my life?". These among others are questions many youth and young adults are asking. How are we providing environments to ask and guiding them through these questions?

I've been experiancing alot of those conversations lately. And the hardest part is that I don't have all the answers..and at times really feel like I'm just making things worse.. not helping them in their search at all. But at the same time it really challenges me to seek God and really dig into my fatih deeper. I may not have the answers to the questions they are asking, but maybe I have other answers or understanding that will guide them to start asking other questions.. or simply just have faith. It's a toughy that one

Thanks for your comment Hondo. I'm finding I enjoy helping them find what their questions are and finding new ones to ask. It seems as though they are searching and I believe our role is to simply help them search well. What do you think?
